Pine
Alpine is an updated version of Pine that is under the Apache license. It is a drop-in replacement for Pine, and on UGCS pine is symlinked to alpine. Currently, alpine does not read maildirs- so you if you want to use it, you have to set it up to use IMAP.

Pine Configuration
Run pine, go to Setup, Config.
- Set Inbox Path to {imap.ugcs.caltech.edu/user=USERNAME/ssl}INBOX.
- Set SMTP server to mail.ugcs.caltech.edu/user=USERNAME/ssl
- [optional] Set User Domain to ugcs.caltech.edu, ugcs.net, or ugcs.org so your mail comes from a short domain. By default it will come from SEVERNAME.ugcs.caltech.edu
- You must have migrated your password in order to log in, if coming from UGCS 3.0
